Biography

From Brierley Hill, son of seven times winner Tony Rutter, Michael made his debut in the TT Races in 1994. The following year he finished 8th in the Senior and took 18th place in the Junior. In 1996 he gained his first rostrum position with 3rd place in the TT Formula 1 and in the Senior he retired on the last lap when in 8th place. In 1997 he had another two rostrum places, with 2nd in the Formula 1 and 3rd in the Junior. In 1998 he achieved his ambition when he won the Junior Race. In the same year he also finished 2nd in the Formula 1, 3rd in the Production and 13th in the Senior after suffering a puncture. In 1999 he finished 8th in the Junior. In 2000 he rode Yamahas in the Formula One, Senior, Production and Junior Races and finished 2nd in the Formula 1, 5th in the Junior, 3rd in the Production, and 2nd in the Senior. He has lapped the course at 123.04mph.

In 2010 he finished fifth in the re-run Senior TT on the Batham’s Honda, plus two top-ten placings in the Superbike and Superstock races.

2011 saw the likable ‘West Midlander’ venture into the Zero TT with the Segway Racing MotoCzysz team and taking victory with an average speed of 99.604 mph., taking his second victory in the Zero TT in 2013 heading hone 'arch-rival' John McGuinness by a mere 1.67 seconds!

2014 sees Michael continue his association with Batham's.
