Biography

First road race at Cadwell Park was August Bank Holiday 1954. Rode 350cc BSA Goldstar. Qualified in heat and finished 8th in final from a field of 30. Continued to race for four and a half years at the following circuits…. Alton Park, Alton Towers, Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park (of course), Crystal Palace, Castle Coombe, Isle of Man (senior and Junior Manx GP), and senior and Junior Jubilee TT, (1957), Mallory Park, Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough, Snetterton and Silverstone. Highlights of results were sharing newcomers’ award at the 1956 Manx GP with Bill Sawford and Tom Thorpe. Also receiving silver replica in senior race plus bronze replica in junior race. Won heats in national races at Mallory Park and Castle Coombe. Qualified for international licence in 1955. Last race was at Mallory Park in 1958. The racing machinery was supplied by Gordon Woodman Ltd of Holbeach for whom I became General Manager. The racing machines used in later years were ex-John Surtees.
