Biography

In 1988 I DNF''d on a Men Only Suzuki 750 F1 bike just after the Creg and limped down to the bottom of the hill beyond Bedstead where I met my then teammate, Robert Holden. We''d both been given the same machinery by Suzuki and shared the same house, garage and of course settings etc, which meant that we both ran out of fuel (yeah, I know, stupid ...!) at the same point, so as he''d set off earlier than me he had the pleasure in knowing that at some point soon the same fate would befall me, so decided to wait there waiting for me to come round....That was our debut race at the island so we learned fairly quickly that the fuel tanks needed to be slightly bigger than standard...out came the compressed airline. The best lap time was 109.96mph

In ''89, I DNF''d again, on a Kawasaki 250 riding for the factory for whom I''d signed at the Island due to yet another mechanical failure on the Francis Neal RC30 which allowed me to leave the team for pastures new...Hence riding the Kawasaki''s (250 & 750 Prod) in Francis Neal colours. The reason for DNF was due to a crash at the Glen Helen section (the name of the actual bend I really don''t know, a left hander before a right over a bridge) caused purely by my own lack of concentration. A broken ankle being the result. Till then I was doing OK and was up to 9th place.
