Biography
Pete Wileman competed in the 1961 TT sidecar race, he was my dad''s nephew. Pete unfortunately passed away a few years ago.
My father went with him to the TT that year, he tells me that Pete and his passenger whose surname was Cross, struggled to qualify with their spare BSA engine in practice and had to fit their race engine in order to do so. This motor started to leak oil during the race, which slowed their pace somewhat. They were clocked at 113 mph at Hillberry, which is not bad for a BSA 500 twin!
Pete also raced at the short circuits (Mallory Park etc) He lived at Syston in Leicestershire.
