Biography
The first rider to win both a Sidecar and a Solo TT on the Mountain Circuit. This ‘larger than life’ character won the very first Sidecar TT with his famous ‘banking’ Douglas outfit in 1923. He started racing at the TT in 1922, but it was not until 1927, riding a 350cc HRD, that he won his first solo event, the Junior.
Dixon gave up motorcycle racing in 1928 to compete in cars, which he did with distinction. He is one of the very few men in motorsport to have been successful on two, three and four wheels in a glittering career.
