Biography
He achieved what many riders have dreamed of. Not only did he compete and win on the TT Mountain Course, he also built and produced his own winning machine.
Davies made his debut in the Isle of Man in 1914, finishing second in the Senior. He returned after the war, and in 1921 became the first rider to win the Senior TT on a 350cc bike, namely an AJS. He also finished second in the Junior using the same engine. After a series of mechanical misfortunes Davies decided in 1925 to manufacture his own machines - the HRD’s. In that first year he finished second in the Junior and won the Senior.
He gave up racing in 1927 but continued to manufacture motorcycles which brought riders such as John Surtees continued success.
