Biography

Started racing at age of 19. Gradually worked his way up from club and national racing doing the odd international. Raced in the honourable company of Mick Grant, Barry Sheene and Joey Dunlop a few times. Favourite circuit Scarborough, a wonderful circuit fast twisty narrow and accurate, came second once with a broken clutch. Came second at the Manx newcomers then spent the next few years doing the Southern 100 - his second Favourite circuit, enjoying club, national circuits & learning to compete in the TT... The greatest show on earth to watch & take part in. Never cracked the TT, best result 18th on a 350 Yamaha. You need top notch bikes for the TT, a bucket full of spares and as much advice as you can get. Make friends with someone who does well at the TT they could save you hours of heartache. Crashed out in practice at the his last TT writing off his new 600 Ducati which was rebuild and Alan raced a couple of times again with a paralysed shoulder best result eighth at a Brands international. Regrets he's had a few but no regrets taking up racing. Likes ...fast motorbikes on road circuits. Also many thanks to Steve Wynne a great enthusiast, rider and Supporter of the sport.
