Having opened a motorcycle business in 1921, Peter's father was responsible for igniting the passion of racing motorcycles in him.
After his first experience of the "Isle of Man" as a spectator in 1947, he subsequently rode in the Clubman's Senior Races, before graduating to the Manx Grand Prix in 1954 and 1955.
As is still the case today, the increasing costs of competitive machinery put paid to his racing career shortly afterwards.
Peter still owns a successful Honda dealership in Derby.
