Biography
Eleven times TT winner, ‘Hizzy’ rode into the history books in 1989 as the first rider to lap at over 120mph. His first win came in the 1987 TT Formula 2 Race on a Yamaha. In 1989 and 1991 he won three races in a week - the TT Formula 1, Senior and Supersport 600. British fans loved him in 1992 when he took the Rotary Norton to victory in the Senior TT, the first time the famous trophy has been won by a British bike rider since 1961. He last rode in 1994 when he took the Senior and Formula 1 titles. He had many memorable battles during his tremendous TT career with the likes of Fogarty, Dunlop and McCallen and remains a popular and often emulated modern day hero of the Mountain Circuit.
