Biography
The winner of five TT’s between 1922 and 1928, this Irish Canadian came to England with the Canadian Army during the 1914-1918 war and served as a despatch rider.
He first TT was in 1921 and his first victory just a year later in the Senior. He rode in 18 TT races and, in addition to his victories, set four lap records. In the 1924 Senior Bennett became the first rider to win a race at over 60mph.
He was also very successful on the Continent, winning a number of Grand Prix races in France and Belgium, and competed in the International Six-Day Trial as a member of the British team, winning a gold medal.
