Biography
Cliff is a marine engineer from Fareham in Hampshire, married to the best race manager in Road Racing – Brenda.
He started racing in 1963 on a 50cc ITOM and has raced in all solo classes on Ariel, NSU, Triumph, Norton, BSA and Ducati machines. He also raced sidecars both as a passenger and latterly as a driver with his son Nicholas in the chair.
He first experienced the joys and anquish of riding on the TT course when, during practice for the Senior MGP in 1970, his BSA engine totally destroyed itself along the Sulby Straight.
The Isle of Man has a special place in every true Road Racers psyche and Cliff believes that nirvana is to be found when the throttle is wide open on the way down Bray Hill on lap one.
