Tributes have been paid to a stalwart of the Isle of Man TT who passed away at the weekend.

Roger Hurst was a marshal for more than three decades, chief marshal for three years and chairman of the Isle of Man TT Marshals Association for 15 years.

During his time involved with the IoMTTMA, Mr Hurst oversaw major changes and developments.

Department of Economic Development Chief Operating Officer Nick Black said:

“We were really sorry to hear about the death of Roger Hurst over the weekend. Roger had a long and distinguished association with marshalling the TT mountain course and served in many different capacities.”
“He was the Chairman of the IoMTTMA for 15 years, Chief Marshal from 2006 to 2008 and was a marshal for 33 years. During that time the organisation changed and developed significantly and Roger’s contribution has helped to make the organisation the professional operation that it is today.”
“His spirit, dedication, good humour and selfless enthusiasm helped him to combat the many challenges that he faced in his role as Chairman and Chief Marshal and he will be sorely missed by everyone in the TT organisation.”
“Our best wishes go out to his wife Jan.”

The IoMTTMA also offered its condolences to Mr Hurst’s family.

A statement said:

“Roger had been a major contributor to many facets of the TT and Manx Grand Prix, none more so than during the many years he spent with the TTMA where he was a former Chairman and Patron.”
“Without doubt Roger will be seriously missed.”

TT fans have been leaving their own tributes on the iomtt.com forum.
