No Thursday afternoon practices
Low cloud and rain have put paid to hopes of a Thursday afternoon practice session at TT 2019 as organisers struggle to catch up with the deficit of track time brought about the cancellation of Saturday, Monday and Wednesday's evening qualifying sessions.
Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson told the paddock via the public address system, moments after tweeting the news
At 11:40am the Isle of Man Government Met Office updated their forecast for the day's weather:
"Any patchy outbreaks of rain will clear away early this afternoon, leaving the rest of the afternoon dry and it should become brighter with a few sunny intervals possible. However, rain is then likely to return this evening. Maximum temperature 17 or 18 Celsius, with moderate or fresh southwest winds."
With the forecast for the evening looking as bad, if not worse than the afternoon's there were questions as to why both of the day's proposed qualifying sessions hadn't been cancelled to give visitors, fans and teams more certainty.
Responding to the queries Mr Thompson took to twitter to explain he owed it to riders and teams to do his best to get them out on track:
