Michael Dunlop says he has ‘no agreement in place to ride a Superbike’ for the 2020 road racing season.

As widely expected, the Ballamoney star confirmed he'd compete under his own MD Racing banner in the Superstock and Supersport classes, 'as that has proved to be a good way of doing things.'

Writing on his Michael Dunlop MD Racing Facebook page, he said: 'I currently have no agreement in place to ride a Superbike for this season and I'm open to proposals.'

Running a Superbike is an expensive proposition, and one few privateers can afford, especially as the opportunities to race full-blown Superbikes in international road racing events are limited.

With 19 Isle of Man TT wins under his belt, Michael knows the challenges of building a winning bike for the most demanding road race in the world better than most.

The 30-year-old rode for Northern Ireland’s illustrious TAS Racing team in 2018 and 2019. So far TAS Racing have not announced any road racing plans for 2020.

Michael has been linked to several teams for 2020, including former backers Stuart and Steve Hicken of Hawk Racing.
