Team Obsolete create Renzo Pasolini trophy for highest placing original Italian Motorcycle
In an effort to inspire more original motorcycles to participate in the Isle of Man Classic TT Races presented by Bennetts, New York based Team Obsolete has created the ‘Renzo Pasolini Trophy’ to honour one of Italy's most respected riders.
The trophy will be awarded annually to the top placing original Italian motorcycle in the Classic TT.
Renzo ‘Paso’ Pasolini was the 6 time World Championship Race winner who enjoyed numerous rivalries with many of the leading riders of the day including notably Giacomo Agostini, Mike Hailwood and Kel Carruthers. He lost the 1972 250cc World Championship by a single point to Jarno Saarinen. He was killed, with Saarinen, while racing at Monza.
Collector Rob Iannucci, head of Team Obsolete, has created this trophy using four original pistons from Renzo Pasolini's Benelli 16 valve, seven speed 350 / four on which he placed 2nd in the 1968 Junior TT, behind Agostini’s MV "Triple".
He said:
“The Isle of Man's Classic TT Races is the premier historic road racing event in the world. We are truly honoured to support it.”
