"I'm knackered but that was just awesome" was John McGuinness's verdict on riding the Norton SG7 on a parade lap of the Isle of Man TT course ahead of the delayed RST Superbike TT Race this afternoon.

"There were pitboards out all round the course with 'P1 + 23 wins' on" John said of his reception, adding "the Isle of Man is packed, it is so busy at all the vantage points."

John made the much heralded move from Honda to Norton ahead of the 2018 Isle of Man TT but a recurrence of an earlier injury sidelined the popular 23-time TT winner.

Speaking of the bike John said "I got my head down on the Mountain Mile, I had to get it out of my system... I noticed I'm lacking a bit of bike fitness but the bike feels good, the V4 is very fast" before adding "Good luck to Josh in the race today," speaking of his Norton team mate Josh Brookes.
