Peter Hickman sweeps through Union Mills during the Senior TT in 2015

Lincolnshire racer Peter Hickman has signed for Northern Ireland team, Cookstown BE Racing, run by former racer John Burrows and will ride a Kawasaki ER6 in the Lightweight class at this year's Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.

Hickman's short road racing career has already seen him become the fastest newcomer ever at the TT, and after just his second year at the event he's already placed eighth on the all-time fastest lap leaderboard.

Further afield he secured a win in the second Superbike race at the 2015 Ulster GP before going on to win the high profile Macau GP in November.

The Louth rider said "I spoke to Paul Phillips about a ride in the Lightweight class and he put me in touch with John Burrows who was keen to work with me.

"I think that the Cookstown Burrows Engineering Kawasaki and I will be a strong combination and I am sure we can get very near to the podium, if not on it. 2016 will be my third year competing at the TT and I have already proved how fast I can be.

"John's machinery is always competitive and proven at the TT. Of course the Supertwin will be new to me but it’s a challenge I am looking forward to and of course the extra track time it will give me."

Team owner John Burrows is pleased to finally be working with Lincolnshire rider, "I have been really impressed with Peter over the past two years and almost persuaded him to ride for me at the Ulster last year, but he decided to ride the MV Agusta instead. However I have got my man this time and as soon as he showed an interest in riding one of my Kawasaki 650 Supertwins I had no hesitation in signing him to ride for Cookstown Burrows Engineering Racing.

"He is a potential race winner and whatever the result he will be a great ambassador for the team and our sponsors." Hickman will also ride the JG Speedfit GBMoto Kawasaki in the feature races at the 2016 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy."
