World Sidecar Champion Tim Reeves will make his Isle of Man TT debut in 2008, it has been confirmed.

The Englishman is one of the first ‘big name’ newcomers to confirm his intention to contest ’08 races.

Tim, 35, only started competing as a driver in 1999, but has enjoyed a rapid rise to the top of the three-wheeled discipline.

After establishing himself on the British scene with numerous wins, he progressed on to the world stage, challenging the established guard of Steve Webster and company almost immediately.

Tim clinched his first world title in 2005, just six years after he first sat behind the controls, and has gone on to take the crown three years in succession. He is, without doubt, the undisputed number one in the sport.

His debut will see him become the highest profile sidecar newcomer since Klaus Klaffenbock in 2004, and with fellow GP ace Mike Roscher also on the entry list, it is clear the sidecars are enjoying resurgence at the TT.

The Maidstone-based driver has expressed an interest in competing at the TT in previous years, but commitments elsewhere have prevented his participation. Now though, he is free of those commitments and has made a recent visit to the Isle of Man to study the course and begin his preparations.

Tim said:

‘The TT is one of the most iconic events in world motorsport and I’m really looking forward to the challenge of competing on the Mountain Circuit.’
‘I have already visited the Island to study the course and I can’t wait to get on the start line,’

Isle of Man Government Motorsport Development Manager Paul Phillips added:

‘His entry for the races is a terrific coup for the event and further strengthens and confirms our recruitment approach, which is attracting the biggest and best competitors to the TT.’
