Three-times World sidecar champion Tim Reeves is taking on a different sort of challenge before the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.

He has been invited to be a celebrity runner at the Brighton Mile, part of this year’s Sport Relief fundraising activities. Sunday’s event, which will be filmed by the BBC, will see Reeves run alongside Shameless actor Dean Lennox Henry and Paralympic athlete Sophia Warner.

The TT regular said:

“When I got the phone call asking if I’d like to be one of the celebrity runners at the Brighton Mile, I didn’t have to think twice and was delighted to accept the invitation.”

“The work done by Sport Relief over the years is absolutely massive and to be asked to support such a superb charity is a privilege. I’m proud to represent motorcycle racing, in particular sidecar racing, and whatever we can do to assist we will.”

“If you live near where one of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Miles are taking place, I’d firmly encourage you to get yourself down there to either run or support those that do.”

“It’s going to be a great day all across the UK so get yourself along and help in any way you can.”

More than 3,000 people took part in The Brighton Mile in 2010, with more anticipated this year. More than one million people are expected to do the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile this weekend across Britain.

As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. All the money raised by the public helps people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.
