The PokerStars Geoff Cannell Memorial Golf Day, in support of the Joey Dunlop Foundation, will take place on May 25.

Isle of Man golfer Eric Corkish is once again organising the annual event in memory of TT commentator Geoff Cannell. It will be held at Ramsey Golf Course to raise funds for the JDF, which provides accommodation in the Isle of Man for visitors with disabilities.

Eric has been a long-term supporter of the foundation, founded in memory of 26-times Isle of Man TT winner. In addition to raising funds for the JDF, this year’s golf day will also support the Manx Workshop for the Disabled.

Kevin Quirk, of the Joey Dunlop Foundation, said:

“Eric is an amazing person who, despite having a disability, plays golf most days and in his spare time arranges the annual golf day.”

“Last year £14,400 was collected with both JDF and Help for Heroes each receiving £7,200. In 2010 JDF received £6.200. Both figures are remarkable achievements due to the current economic conditions.”

“Unfortunately Joey’s son Gary and his nephews Michael and William cannot attend the event as they will be at Snetterton. Gary mentioned the family appreciates Eric’s hard work and they look forward to a round of golf in 2013.”

The 2012 PokerStars Geoff Cannell Memorial Golf Day is receiving support from Royal London 360, Dougherty Quinn, Tower Insurance, Quayles Estate Agents, Office Equipment Centre, Boston Trust, Cu Plus Callow, DOHLE, Creechurch Capital, Isle of Man Bank, Edgewater, Domicilium, Barclays Bank, WiManx, Optimal Payments, Island Drainage, Zurich, Friends Provident, Swagelok, Shoprite, Paddy Power, Pickwicks, Tesco and Raymotors.
