Ice Valley team enjoys positive first outing ahead of 2012 TT
With the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy just days away, the Ice Valley by Motorsave Trade Team has enjoyed a positive first race outing.
After months of preparation, the team launched its 2012 season at the International Road Race Championship (IRRC) in Schleiz, Germany, with riders Paul Shoesmith and Herve Gantner.
Despite the lack of track time for both riders on the BMWs, the team managed to secure two top 10 finishes with former Swiss Supersport Champion Gantner finishing 5th and 6th in the IRRC championship after being given a late wild card entry.
Shoesmith also secured respectable 10th and 11th place finishes at the late April meeting.
Gantner said:
“This was my first try on the bike and it was very good, I had a good feeling with the bike and the team and I can't wait to race at both the North West Isle of Man TT and improve and build on my results.”
Shoesmith added:
“I was a little rusty to start of with, but was happy to secure a 10th and 11th place in the IRRC championship on the BMW in Schleiz, Germany, as this was my first outing this year on a bike.”
“My results gave me 48 points in the current IRRC and I hope that I can continue to secure further points and even a few top 10 finishes in the next IRRC outing in July at Chimay in Belguim.”
“The weather and track at Schleiz were both fantastic and afforded the team with the perfect opportunity in optimum conditions to set the bikes up and prepare for both the NW 200 and Isle of Man TT.”
