Tyco Suzuki pair ready for final roads outing before the 2012 TT
Isle of Man TT stars Guy Martin and Conor Cummins are feeling confident for their final road racing outing before the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.
The Tyco Suzuki pair are racing in Northern Ireland’s North West 200, and were both in action during Tuesday’s opening practice session.
The NW200, which culminates on Saturday, will be the last chance either has to run on the roads before their first practice sessions at the TT.
Martin was second fastest in the Supersport class on the Suzuki GSX-R600 and fourth fastest in the Superbike class.
Manxman Cummins was down in 11th in the Superbike class.
Neither was able to set a time in the Superstock practice, Thursday’s practice session should give them a chance to qualify – although predicted inclement weather may mean their times in the other classes cannot be improved.
Martin said:
“Yeah that was steady away lad. The Supersport and Superbike are bang on as you can see by the times and we’ll have no bother qualifying the Superstock bike tomorrow.”
“All good. Good start. Yeah I’m happy. The team is working well, we’ve got ourselves dialled into the place pretty quickly and I’m looking forward to racing.”
Cummins added:
“I’m a little disappointed with my Superbike times, but we’re there-or-there-abouts and a front row start at the North West is not imperative.”
“We suffered a little problem with the Superstocker and didn’t post a time, but we’ll get that sorted in the morning.”
Team Manager Philip Neill said:
“It was great to get off to a positive start. We had a couple of niggling little problems, which you always expect on the first night at the North West.”
“As usual we have a few changes to make here and there for the boys, but all in all we’re pretty happy. We’re looking forward to racing tomorrow night, hopefully in the dry, then get dialled in for Saturday.”
Tyco Suzuki teammate Alastair Seeley set the fastest times in the Superbike and Supersport classes, and was second fastest in the Superstock.
