Isle of Man TT winner Donald 'all smiles' after SuperTwin test
Isle of Man TT winner Cameron Donald was ‘all smiles’ after his first run on the bike he will race in the BikerPetition.co.uk Lightweight TT.
The Australian enjoyed a test session on the DC Coldplaning SuperTwin at the Jurby Airfield circuit in the Isle of Man on Tuesday.
It was the first time he had ridden the 650cc Kawasaki, and after a series of flying laps was delighted with the handling and set-up.
Speaking exclusively to iomtt.com, the two-times TT winner said:
“Getting a run out today around Jurby was fantastic…good chance on the SuperTwin, good chance to ride in the sunshine, hopefully the weather’s as good next week.”
“All smiles. It’s a really, really good fun bike to ride. You can hold the throttle on everywhere where you couldn’t with a bigger bike. It’s really good fun.”
“We wheeled it out of the van, took it out, ran a bunch of laps and we haven’t had to touch it with a spanner. Nothing has come loose, nothing has needed adjustment, even the suspension, we just left it exactly as it came out of the van.”
“It just feels good fun to ride, it’s easy to ride. I’m really looking forward to getting it out on the TT circuit.”
The SuperTwins are a new class for the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy and will see Donald lining up against the likes of James Hillier, Ian Lougher, Michael and William Dunlop, Michael Rutter, Dan Kneen and race favourite ryan Farquhar when the BikerPetition.co.uk Lightweight TT gets under way on June 8.
Donald will once again race for the Wilson Craig Honda outfit in all other classes, and believes he is fully prepared for this year’s TT, which starts on Saturday.
He said:
“Over the last 12 months, since the last TT, everything I have been doing has been in preparation for this year’s event.”
“A heck of a lot of work, time and effort has gone into getting back here in the best possible condition for myself, the team and the bikes. Everything is looking good for a good TT. I’m really looking forward to just getting on with the job now.”
