Isle of Man TT stars Conor Cummins and Dan Kneen with Steam Packet Company Commercial Director John Watt and Marketing and Online Manager Renée Caley

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has renewed its commitment to supporting local racing talent by sponsoring Dan Kneen and Conor Cummins for the season.

Both Manxmen have been in action on the TT course this year, alongside British championship commitments, and have been tipped to be among the front runners at the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.

To help with the cost of his racing efforts, the Steam Packet is renewing its support for Kneen by again providing him with free travel to events. This is the third year of continued support which has helped him to compete in classes in the British Superbike Championships, the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix, as well as the TT, on Marks Bloom-sponsored machinery.

Meanwhile, the ferry company is providing Cummins with free travel to some of the events he has lined up with the Tyco Suzuki team during 2012.

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said:

“Both Dan and Conor are well-known and liked in the racing paddocks and we are aware that they act as great ambassadors, not only for bike racing here in the Island, but also for the Island in general as a holiday destination.”

“The Steam Packet Company has an important role in transporting competitors and spectators to the Island for many of the motorsport activities that take place throughout the year. Those attending provide much-needed income for the Island’s economy by spending in the hotels, cafes, bars and restaurants – this sponsorship is just one of the ways in which we are able to put something back into the sport.”
