Isle of Man TT winners continue battle for Duke Rankings title

Isle of Man TT winners Michael Dunlop and Ryan Farquhar are continuing to battle for the 2012 Duke Road Race Rankings title.
The pair shared the honours at last weekend’s Armoy 'Race of Legends' Road Races, the 16th round of the Duke Rankings, with Dunlop taking three wins and Farquhar two.
The result left the gap between the two at the top of the table almost unchanged, with Farquhar in the lead.
In addition to the challenge of heavy rain faced by all the riders, three-times TT winner Dunlop also had to battle with a back injury on his way to the Armoy Man of the Meeting title for the 2nd year in succession.
He took victory in the rain-affected Supersport, the Open race and the all-important feature race, with Farquhar in the top 3 in each of those as well as securing victory in the SuperTwins and Moto 450 classes.
William Dunlop’s 250cc win, and 2nd in the 125cc behind Sam Wilson, saw him move up two places in the Duke Rankings to 3rd, with Jamie Hamilton maintaining his 4th place.
TT winner Chris Palmer is now 5th, with Ivan Lintin, John Burrows, Jamie Coward, Derek Sheils and John McGuinness completing the top 10.
Mark Shiels won the Junior Support race at Armoy, and finished 10th in the Senior Support race, to head the Newcomers class in the 2012 Duke Road Race Rankings.
The action stays in Northern Ireland for rounds 17 and 18, the Dundrod 150 Road Races and Ulster Grand Prix.
