The TT Supporters' Club Winter 2012 magazine

As they rummaged through the pile of Christmas cards on the door mat, many TT fans were delighted to find the latest edition of the TT Supporters’ Club Magazine – 52 pages of the latest information about competitors, the event and, of course, club news.

The magazine, issued twice a year, is sent to TTSC members as part of their £15 annual membership subscription

Graham Bean, who took on the role of editor in the early 1990s, oversees an ever-increasing team of writers and photographers which produces an array of articles, including news from current solo/sidecar competitors, all interviewed face-to-face, by telephone or via e-mail, historical features, with photographs provided by Bill Snelling, and information from the organisers, marshals, commentators, Joey Dunlop Foundation and more.

Preparations for the Summer 2013 edition are already well under way. Motorsport Development Manager Paul Phillips will, as usual, give frank answers to the editor’s questions, and Club President, multi-TT winner turned radio presenter Charlie Williams, will review changes at the TT since he was first interviewed some 20 years ago.

As ever, there will be plenty of variety as the club prides itself on looking at all levels of the start grid, not just concentrating on those at the front.

The team of writers (Sally Bly, Phil Windrum, John Newton and Mike Hammonds) are now busy creating a series of articles across all facets of TT racing, assisted by photographers Glynne Lewis, Stuart Watson, Peter Faragher and longstanding contributors Sheila and Barry Sommerville of Equip Ajax.

Once information has been collated it is sent to Les Eanor, who has worked with Graham from the beginning, for the computer laying-out process.

The TT Supporters’ Club is an international organisation, with several representatives around the world contributing to the magazine. Those from Spain, France, Italy, Germany and the Republic of Ireland have recently been joined by new recruit, Gert Meulman from the Netherlands.

A glance through past editions reveals the great diversity of personalities who have helped promote the club and the TT races, such stars as Tommy Robb, John McGuinness, Steve Norbury, Wade Boyd, Sandra Barnett, Jackie Woods, Peter Kneale, Mark Daynes, Steve Mercer, Daid Madsen-Mygdal, Guy Martin, Dave Molyneux, Stuart Graham, Yoshi Matsushita, Blair Degerholm, Ken Sprayson, Eddie Kiff, David Cretney MHK, Francois Leblond, Michael Rutter, Chris Palmer, Brian Alflatt, Roger Burnett, Conrad and Dean Harrison, James Whitam, Davy Wood, James Crumpton, Wendy Davies, Eric Richards, Nick Jefferies, Tony Thirkell, Chris Kinley, Jimmy Vanderhaar, Paul Owen, Adrian Archibald, John McBride, Phil Harvey, Alan Connor, Dan Clarke, Ivan Lintin, Eric Alexander…the list goes on and on and Graham believes it runs to more than 140, including, of course, one-time Vice-President Norman Wisdom.

The magazine gives an insight into the organisation of the event, analysing rules and regulations, qualification times, entry lists, results and lap speeds to give in depth coverage of the world’s greatest motorcycle road races.
