Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness has launched the Joey Dunlop Foundation’s 2013 tombola.

This year the prize in the charity’s annual fundraising effort is a Honda Fireblade in the Demon Vimto colours which were the colours of Joey’s winning ride at the 2000 TT.

McGuinness and Joey’s wife Linda Dunlop were guests at the JDF dinner in the Isle of Man earlier this month.

Fellow TT stars Ryan Farquhar, Conor Cummins and Dan Kneen, plus ex-Grand Prix racer Jeremy McWilliams, were also on hand to keep the 150 guests entertained.

The 19-times TT winner, before entertaining the audience with various stories of his racing career, launched the JDF 2013 tombola. For several years Honda machinery has been supplied by Clive Padgett and JDF Treasurer Kevin Quirk acknowledged Clive and Neil Tuxworth's support during his opening speech.

Mr Quirk said:

“The highlight of the evening was when John drew the winning ticket for the 2012 JDF tombola, a rather shocked lady from Warrington received a telephone call from the Morecambe missile to advise she had won the John McGuinness Limited edition Honda Fireblade.”

“Initially believing it was a hoax call, the winner was very happy when she realised she was actually speaking to a TT legend.”

Joey’s charity will be attending several motorcycle shows before the start of the road race season, including Oliver’s Mount in April, the North West 200 and the 2013 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.

Established in 2001 in memory of 26-times TT winner Joey Dunlop, the charity has endured many highs and lows before the self-catering apartments at Braddan Bridge House in the Isle of Man that cater for people with special needs were formally opened by Linda and McGuinness in 2010.

The charity continues to grow, with the committee announcing plans for a further two apartments to be constructed at Braddan Bridge House.
