Cameron Donald, who will contest the 2013 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy with Wilson Craig Honda, has stepped down from the Honda TT Legends Endurance World Championship squad.

The Australian has confirmed he will not be part of the team as it contests the four-round championship which starts in April.

Two-times TT winner Donald had been part of the squad since its first season, in 2011.

He said:

“This was not an easy decision for me and I will miss the team hugely.”

“We’ve had some great times over the past two years and the experience of endurance racing is one I’ll never forget, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t suit me to be away from Australia for such a long period of time.”

“I’d like to thank Honda and the team for the opportunity.”

The Honda TT Legends EWC team will consist of TT stars John McGuinness, Michael Rutter and Simon Andrews, although it is anticipated a fourth rider could be announced to join the squad before the first round, the Bol d’Or 24-hour on April 20 and 21.

The line-up for the 2013 TT is unaffected, with 19-times winner McGuinness, three-times winner Rutter and Michael Dunlop, also a three-time TT winner, contesting the Superbike and Senior races.

Honda TT Legends boss Neil Tuxworth said:

“We’re very disappointed that Cameron will not be a part of the EWC team this year as he has done an excellent job over the past two years.”

“He expressed a wish to spend more time at home in Australia, which meant he was unable to commit to the programme of testing and racing required and therefore we have mutually agreed for him to stand down.”

“We wish him all the best for the NW200 and TT and look forward to seeing him at those events.”
