Niblett targets replica on Isle of Man TT return
After a difficult debut, Michael Niblett is hoping for a more successful Mountain course campaign at the 2013 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.
The 28-year-old had planned to contest all three 1000cc races at the 2012 TT, but was forced out of the Superbike TT after just 2 laps, due to an oil leak. He battled with gear change and handling problems in the Superstock race, although he managed to finish with a creditable fastest lap of 115mph, and was unable to contest the Senior after the race was cancelled.
The Hinckley-based racer aims to fulfil a lifelong ambition and win a TT replica at this year’s TT.
Niblett has entered the Monster Energy Supersport, Royal London 360 Superstock, Dainese Superbike and PokerStars Senior TT races, riding a 2011 Astro Racing Kawasaki ZX10R in the big bike races and a Triumph Daytona 675 supplied by Les Liney Vehicle Hire, in the Supersport events.
The newly-appointed general manager at the new Stratstone Triumph dealership in Leicester has all the ambition, but still needs to raise enough funds for the races. He has re-launched the highly successful Facebook campaign he ran last year, with many sponsors again committing to paying £50 each towards the cost.
He said:
“Last year didn't go as well as planned but that's only made me more determined to succeed this year and get a TT replica. It's been a lifetime ambition and with a fair wind this year I'm sure I can do it.”
“I've got some great sponsors on board to help me but I also rely on the backing of the TT fans to get me onto the start-line. Their enthusiasm is second to none and this is a way of them being even closer to the event.”
