Michael Dunlop Thursday Practice Quarterbridge

Ahead of yesterday's practice, Michael Dunlop confirmed that he was switching back to using Dunlop tyres at this year's Isle of Man TT races, fuelled by Monster Energy.

The Northern Ireland racer won four races at last year's Isle of Man TT on Dunlop tyres, but since moving to BMW this year has competed on a different tyre brand.

By switching back to his namesake brand of tyre on the eve of the Island's big races, he hopes to boost his record of seven TT wins.

Michael Dunlop secured his first Superbike win on the tortuous 38 mile Mountain Course on a Dunlop-shod Honda last year, but has switched to BMW this year.

Dunlop will ride his Dunlop shod BMW in both the Superbike and Senior races, plus a BMW Superstock, a Honda Supersport machine and a Kawasaki SuperTwin during the TT this year. All bikes will be equipped with Dunlop.

For Dunlop Tyres, this boosts the chances of further success for the brand on the Island. Last year, Dunlop-equipped riders won 14 of 15 possible podiums in the TT and we are delighted to welcome Michael 'back home' " stated Jason Dee, Manager, Motorcycle Race Europe.

In last night's practice, on Dunlop tyres, Michael Dunlop powered to the top of the Supersport qualifying with a lap of 124.537, the fastest time of the evening.  He'll now be looking to replicate that form on his Superbike and Superstock machine in this evening's qualifying session.
