PokerStars Spirit of the TT nominations now open
PokerStars is inviting members of the public to join in with the 'PokerStars Spirit of the TT' award by nominating people that they believe should be considered for the award.
The award, which was launched in 2010, is given to the person or persons who best represent the ethos and values of the Isle of Man TT Races. These include decency, honesty, generosity, courage, compassion, integrity, respect, teamwork and commitment to the development of the races.
Previous winners of the award have included racers Paul Owen in 2010, Conor Cummins in 2011, sidecar duo the Birchall Brothers in 2012 and longest serving TT Marshal Eric Alexander, 80, who first marshalled at the TT in 1952 at the age of 19. It will be presented on the podium at the TT Grandstand ahead of the PokerStars Senior TT.
David Cretney, MHK the Political Member of Isle of Man Government with responsibility for Tourism and Motorsport, TT rider liaison officers Richard Quayle and John Barton, ACU Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson and PokerStars Head of Corporate Communications Eric Hollreiser will judge the award.
Eric Hollreiser, who announced the new format at the 2014 Official launch evening for the Isle of Man TT Races said:
"We decided to extend the criteria for 'PokerStars Spirit of the TT' award to recognise some of the unsung heroes in the local community that help to make the event happen. This year we want to broaden the search by inviting nominations from members of the public as well."
Nominations can be made by emailing spirit@iomtt.com or via the TT facebook page. Forms can also be downloaded from the PokerStars page or by picking up a form from the Manx Radio studio at the TT Grandstand.
